Handmade by talented artisans from either Afghanistan or Myanmar in Malaysia. As refugees in Malaysia do not have access to education, healthcare, or work, they have to work for NGOs under the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR). Love, Light, Lemons has partnered with refugee-led sewing centres so that talented artisans can have access to fair wages; but more importantly, to better life opportunities.
Love, Light, Lemons was founded in 2017 by the one and only Raisa Gabrielli with the intention to continuously uplift the lives of communities in need in Malaysia while simultaneously curating eco-friendly products. How? By donating a percentage of profits to a community of choice. An example would be: the Malaysian Association for the Blind. Since 2020, the focus has been on curating ethical & sustainable loungewear that doubles as activewear. Unlike fast fashion labels, Love, Light, Lemons strives to be as green as possible. Every collection is automatically limited edition as mass production is avoided. Only GOTS certified 100% organic cotton and upcycled batik is used – sometimes, plant-based dye is incorporated. Whatever fabric remains post production is revamped as well. Even the packaging is carefully chosen to be as zero waste as possible.
Throughout the years, Love, Light, Lemons has donated to overlooked or neglected communities in need. However, the global pandemic highlighted how more is needed – especially in rural areas of Malaysia. As a result, Love, Light, Lemons is donating 3% of monthly sales to the Centre for Orang Asli Concerns (COAC).
